4. Senior Weather Briefer - Background Information

You are a civil servant and weather specialist with little knowledge of flying. You think jet aircraft can sustain enormous turbulence without damage because of the modern materials they are constructed from. In this case you are particularly interested in this storm cell because of its unusual behaviour and the relative speed with which it has already changed both in intensity and direction of travel. You would quite like to hear visual and circumstantial reports from a pilot who can fly close to it, in order to see if your reading of the storms altitude is correct, as this is the least accurate aspect of measuring actual weather phenomena.
